The Part P Online Course is designed for anyone who wants to undertake electrical installation work in domestic properties.

The course is designed for new entrants to the electrical installation industry or for electricians and other trades who plan to join a competent persons register.

On completion of the course you will have all you the theoretical knowledge required for Domestic Electrical Installation and Part P Building Regs in England to enable you to take your Part P Self-Certification Assessment with confidence.

On completion of the course and on receipt of your 2393-10 certificate, you will need to put yourself forward for practical Part P Assessment by a certification scheme provider (ie. NICEIC / NAPIT).

The Electacourse Part P Online Course is designed for new entrants to domestic electrical work and other trades to understand how the Building Regulations in England apply to domestic electrical installations.

With secure knowledge of Part P and the other parts of the building regs which include electrical work (Parts A, B, C, E, F, L1, L2, and M), you will have the knowledge to enable you to put yourself forward for Part P Assessment with confidence. With a successful outcome of a Part P Assessment – not part of this course (see below), you will have the authority to sign-off on your own electrical work in domestic properties. You will be able certify notifiable electrical work and submit your notifications directly to your local building control.

Recently published, the Part P Online Course is illustrated throughout and includes sections questions throughout and example Part P exam questions with answers.

It includes questions not only on the requirements for electrical installations (Part P) but also for other parts of the Building Regulations (Parts A, B ,C, E, F ,L and M) that persons carrying out electrical installations are expected to understand and comply with.

The Electacourse Part P Course has been updated to reflect recent changes. The changes incorporated in this new edition are designed to:

  • reduce the range of electrical installation work that is notifiable.
  • allow installers who are not a registered electricians to certify work as an alternative to using building control.
  • change the technical guidance throughout so it now refers to BS7671:2022

The Part P City & Guilds 2393-10 is an open book exam and has two permitted texts. The Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations and NICEIC – Electrical Installers’ Guide to the Building Regulations: v. 1: For Dwellings and Associated Areas in England and Wales.

This course does not cover building regulations in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales (although for Wales, we do include a section highlighting the differences in Part P between England and Wales)

About the Part P Exam@home

Do not book this product unless you can meet the technical requirements for @home examinations.

The technical requirements are:

  1. a well-lit room where the exam can be taken undisturbed
  2. a good internet connection
  3. a laptop or desktop computer (PC only) with a webcam
  4. a telephone number so the exam set-up details can be organised and confirmed

Once the exam has been scheduled, you will be contacted and given information how to prepare yourself and the PC before the exam.

Take note: we are sorry but for the moment we are not able to offer the exam@home to international students. We expect City & Guilds to allow this soon.

What next?

On completion of the course, you will need to put yourself forward for Part P Assessment by a certification scheme provider (fees and requirements for Part P Assessment vary by provider – NICEIC, NAPIT).
