When I turned it on I got.
1st LineWhat is wrong with my Raypak Avia (1)ool Set
2nd Line: Alternates between Pre-Purge and Diff Sw Open

At the same time water keeps coming out of the bottom of the exhaust vent. When I increase the pump speed, water comes out faster.

The error log has these notifications for the last few days:
8/17 Critical Fault -Flue Temperature Fault
8/18 Warning Differential Pressure switch failed open during operation. Check blower and Heat exchanger exhaust.
Fan Fault Lockout - Multiple Fan faults detected. Check blower and Air switches.
8/19. Differential Pressure again
8/20 Fan Fault Lockout again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is your heater under warranty?

The Raypak Avia is too new for us to have any experience diagnosing problems here.

It sounds like you have a serious internal water leak in the heater. Have you opened it up and looked at the insides of it?

Your problems sound serious enough to contact a local Avia service center.

Water coming out of the exhaust would indicate a large leak in the heat exchanger. Chemical damage?

Thanks for your reply.
I can't see enough to find where the water is coming from. I don't want to start taking the machine apart. Every time I touch plumbing, it costs me money.

I have SWG and follow TFP chemical guidelines. What chemicals would cause damage?

Usually, if there is heat exchanger damage it is caused by improper water chemistry. Water in the exhaust is usually an indication of that kind of damage. Could have been a mechanical failure. Water in the combustion chamber will cause issues with air flow and the machine will give some of the errors you mention. Just a best guess from 3000 miles away. If it is still under warranty, get it looked at ASAP.

Heater was installed on 7/13/23. Does it make sense that there would be chemical damage in that time? In any case, I will pay greater attention to Raypak chemical recommendations in the future.

In case this helpful to others, here was my experience trying to find an Authorized Service Provider.

I live in the Hudson Highlands, 50 miles from NYC and withing the NYC metropolitan statistical area. When I searched for an ASP on the website, it found none within 100 miles. Strange. Checked two towns in wealthy Westchester county, same result. This may have been caused by a browser setting perhaps, but when I searched for our home in Manhattan, it did find some providers.

The service rep at Raypak did a search on the web site and found a bunch of ASR's not ridiculously far away. I could not find the phone number for service on the website. It is 877 271 2592. I had to wait about 20 minutes.

The service Rep said that if none of the ASR's would agree to service the unit, to call Raypak again for an authorized service representative, if I wrote that down correctly, which is not a certified technician, but temporarily permitted to do warranty repair. They get paid $200 for the visit, and if the customer is charged more, we should call Raypak and get the overage reimbursed. And the customer should get any needed part by again calling Raypak, since the servicer would otherwise charge for it.

A plumber is coming tomorrow for something else, and I will ask him to install a bypass for the heater because who knows how long this will take to fix, and my pool is losing water and the interior of the heater is getting wet.
